Paper gel electrophoresis, a piece of filter paper is used as the electrophoretic medium to separate the protein components. This technique
simply involves application of a small volume of serum as a narrow line across a filter paper saturated with buffer. The two ends of the paper
are in contact with anode and cathode. Proteins start migrating when the electrical field is provided. Migrated proteins are examined after
staining.
This is widely used in clinical Medicine to separate serum samples in diagnosis and for college level teaching purpose.
